NIBLEY, Utah — A man was arrested after stabbing incident at a transient camp in Millville Canyon then leading police on a chase into Logan City.
At about 5 a.m., on August 26, 2020, Cache County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a possible stabbing at the Maverick located at 3100 South Highway 165 in Nibley, Utah.
Upon arrival, deputies found 31-year-old Jesse Kaufman with what police described as a significant stab wound to the arm. Kaufman was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital and further transported by air ambulance to IHC Murray.
During their investigation, deputies discovered Kaufman was stabbed at a transient camp then driven by two witnesses to the Maverick where they called for help.
"Information was obtained regarding the suspect, Ronald D. Nalepa a 39-year-old male from Logan," stated the department. "His truck was quickly located driving in the Wellsville area by Utah Highway Patrol."
Utah Highway Patrol officers located Nalepa's vehicle, initiated a traffic stop, and Nalepa fled towards Logan City. Once in Logan City, Nalepa was stopped near 150 West 100 North and taken into custody by City of Logan Police Department officers.
The incident remains under investigation, according to the Cache County Sheriff's Office.
