[UPDATE August 9, 2020] The Unified Police Department — Kearns Precinct has arrested a driver in connection with an August 8 hit-and-run crash involving a seven-year-old boy in Kearns.
23-year-old Jesus Homero Mancinas was arrested and charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving injury, a class A misdemeanor, and driving on a denied license, a class C misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause statement, the child suffered several injuries including a laceration to the side of his head, road rash and scrapes all over his body, internal injuries, broken hips, and a lacerated spleen/liver. The child was transported to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mancinas turned himself in to police after a photo of a red Camaro he was allegedly driving was distributed on social media and to the press.
KEARNS, Utah — [ORIGINAL August 8, 2020 ] The Unified Police Department Kearns Precinct is searching for a vehicle that struck a six-year-old child on a bike and fled the scene.
On Friday, August 7, 2020, police say the vehicle struck the child in the area of 4000 West 5200 South.
According to police, the car is a red/orange, 2011 or newer Chevrolet Camaro, and should have damage on the front fender.
