MORGAN CITY, Utah — A wrong-way driver was killed in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler late Sunday night, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety.
At approximately 11:17 p.m., on August 16, 2020, the Utah Department of Public Safety began receiving calls about a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 near Morgan City.
As troopers responded in an attempt to locate and divert the vehicle, a call came in around 11:23 p.m., indicating there had been a collision on Interstate 84 near Mountain Green — which is approximately eight miles northwest of Morgan City.
"The wrong way vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria sedan, had crashed head-on into a tractor trailer hauling onions," read a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety. "Life saving measures were given by troopers and medical personnel on scene."
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a woman whose identity was not released by police as of press time, was pronounced deceased upon arrival at an area hospital.
Firefighters from the Morgan Green Fire Protection District, Roy, Morgan City, and Riverdale responded to the crash scene.
